Precare – Ameela Information Sheet

This precare document is designed to give you information about the procedure, including what to expect, how to prepare, and the potential risks and benefits. If you have any questions after reading this, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

What is Ameela and how does it work?

Ameela is an injectable solution based on natural polymerised polynucleotides. It is a highly moisturising gel that restores skin firmness and elasticity by increasing the skin’s own collagen and reducing the loss of hyaluronic acid up to 40%.

It helps promote healthy skin, that is protected against cellular damage.

Ameela Eyes

Ameela Eyes thickens and restructures the tissue around the eyes, resulting in an improvement of superficial wrinkles without the use of fillers.

Further benefits include: Reduces eye-bags and dark circles, improvement in skin quality and diminishes superficial wrinkles.

Ameela Rejuvenation

Ameela Rejuvenation reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and deep hollowing in the periocular area. The product can also be used to restore skin tone and elasticity on the face, neck, and hands. As well as stimulating hair growth for the scalp, beard and moustache.

Further benefits include: Bio-stimulating, faster healing & tissue improvement (as a post-surgery treatment), protects against free radicals and cellular damage.

Ameela Face

Ameela Face has the highest concentration of the portfolio, used on the mid-face and jawline for contouring and skin tightening, as well as reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and improving skin tone and elasticity.

Further benefits include: Bio-stimulation, faster healing & tissue improvement (as a post-surgery treatment), protects against free radical and cellular damage.

What happens during the treatment?

The doctor will confirm the sites for treatment and that you have read and signed your consent form.

Photos might be taken before treatment. These are saved to your medical record.

The skin will be disinfected and then the injection treatment with Ameela will be carried out using a needle or cannula.

Aftercare advice will be given at the end of the appointment and sent to you by email.

How quickly will I notice results?

Typically 2-3 sessions are required 2-4 weeks apart. A further course of 1-3 treatments can be repeated after 6-8 months for maintenance. The manufacturers of Ameela report a 22.5% reduction in wrinkles at treated sites after 3 treatments. Results may vary.

What are the risks?

The most common side effects of Ameela are swelling, redness, tenderness, slight headache, pain and/ or bruising, but these symptoms will usually pass in 1-2 weeks.

In rare cases, these symptoms last longer.

Other possible side effects include allergic reactions to the product. Although Ameela treatments in most cases do not cause allergies or complications, there is no guarantee against this.

Ameela comes as a gel and if this is injected into a blood vessel, it can cause blockages. This happens extremely rarely in skilled medical hands, and should it happen, your doctor may be able to clear the blockage with a variety of techniques in the clinic.

What precautions should I take before my appointment?

  1. Please do not take aspirin, ibuprofen or any other blood thinning medicines for at least 1 week before your treatment to reduce the risk of bruising. If you need to take a blood-thinning medicine for a pre-existing medical condition, please discuss this with your doctor before booking your appointment.
  2. There is anecdotal evidence that arnica pills and creams may reduce bruising. You can purchase arnica pills from a chemist and start taking them according to package instructions on the day of or on the day before your planned treatment if there are no contraindications.
  3. Please do not book your treatment if you have a special occasion or event coming up in the following 7-14 days to allow time for full recovery in the event of swelling or bruising.
  4. Please do not book a treatment if you are due to fly in the following week. Aesthetic treatments are medical procedures and, as such, in the event that you encounter a side effect or complication, your doctor will want to be able to see you to provide treatment or reassurance as necessary.
  5. Please do not wear makeup to your appointment. You will not be able to reapply makeup for 12 hours after your treatment.
  6. Please do not plan any cardio or high intensity exercise for a week after your treatment and ideally no facials, saunas or steam rooms for 2 weeks after.
  7. Treatment cannot be performed if you have an active cold sore so please reschedule your appointment if you have a cold sore in the week prior to your treatment.
  8. Please explicitly let your doctor know if you have any allergies before attending for your appointment to avoid a wasted trip if the treatment is contraindicated.
